Tsavo: A Superb Diamond Which Epitomizes A True East African Safari Experience. An Outing That Echoes Epic Recollections.
Beneath the envelop of the tent a ear splitting splash followed by amplified grunts woke me beckoning me to believe it was dawn! The hippos in haste to get to the pool must have run at bursting stride to enter the water before the sun rose above the azure skies.
Still groggy and not feeling like getting out of the cuddly bed, I gaze outside the tent, it was quite dark and the hippos were grumbling so close by. I unzipped the tent and in the flashlight, dotting eyes spaced apart stared back at me out of the darkness.
It was only 4am and the hippo pod was alive. Whatever changed about the belief that hippos graze out all night - this is truly a Tsavo safari.
The pool dazzled under the reflection of a cloudless star dotted heaven. Now, wide awake, I explore the pond for other life and a few meters from the grunting hippos, lying on the rim of the pond is a crocodile. I cannot return to bed now with so much happening just below our patio.

A petite crocodile lies about the bare rock oblivious of our presence. The clear pond of bubbling water is rather bustling with the young charges. We respect how this little one will one day grow into a mammoth sized crocodile. What a day!
