The New EBook Book Reader Manufactured By The Computer Giants Acer Inc. In Line To Join Amazon Kindle
Acer Inc., no one's fool when it comes to competing in the computer space, plans to come into the ebook book reader arena later this year.
Acer senior manager Jim Wong, president of the company's IT Goods group, outlined the tactics through an interview with Bloomberg at Acer's offices in Taipei.
The day before Apple's purported entrance into the tablet sweeps-a device that would serve e book readers in addition to others-Wong also said the company will what's more offer "hundreds" of apps online, programs that could support Google's Android program, currently running on several Acer goods, as well as having support for Microsoft's Windows OS.
By July, Acer is anticipated to release an electronic-book reader with a 6-inch monochrome display, Mr. Wong told Bloomberg. "Amazon kindle and Barnes & Noble; they are U.S.-centric. Acer also has the Apple "iSlate"-if it appears-in its sights. "We're producing something, and we will observe what happens" J.T. Wang, Acer's chairman, maintained in the report. "We are going to work moreover in a Windows world or in Google's defined OS space."
