This will ensure that it is given the time it needs to learn how to restrain its urges to display dominance and not to bite.
After 8 weeks, you can start to socialize the dog with your family and with other puppies. You can also try going to bite aversion sessions or puppy day cares. And always keep in mind that Poodle puppies should never be scolded because early aggression can create behavior difficulties as they grow older.
You should also remember not to allow your puppy to bite. You can give the pup a toy when they bite you or you can make soft whimpering sounds to show them that what they are doing hurts you.
Poodle Biting in Mature Dogs
If your Poodle is still biting or nipping when it's aged, you need to make sure you have full control of your dog. First, you have to make sure that you prove them that you are the boss. Control feeding times, walking times, and teach your dog some fundamental commands. And also keep in mind not to hesitate when giving commands and stay away from any games like wrestling, tug of war, and chasing that can lead to biting because this will make the behavior into a game that grabs attention.
You can take your poodle to an obedience workshop when they show aggressive behavior or fear and anxiety related tendencies. This will help them socialize with other dogs and help them take care of their aggression problems in a controlled environment.
But if your poodle biting problem grows more dangerous, consider employing an expert or visit your veterinarian to rule out any potential health related causes to their biting.
So remember, that biting from your Poodle is never tolerable. You have to take care of it immediately because it can be of a greater behavior problems under the surface and might develop into a more risky issue when your poodle gets older.
