This is where you want to use light to accent something; such as that new painting you just had hung, the antique sculpture set in the front foyer, or maybe just to highlight an entrance way. Anything that might have the benefit of a brighter light source. And if the immediate surrounding area is darker, you will get a more dramatic effect.
