A very intense, naturally colored diamond is more rare than a less intense diamond, and therefore more expensive. In almost every case, a natural stone will out grade an enhanced version.

In general, most diamonds are found in the earth, in mines and extracted by miners , However, it is quite possible for the diamond to be created by a scientific process. A synthetic version is still a real diamond, just created in a lab instead of the earth, and, of course, are much less valuable.
Colored Diamond Names
Because fancy colored diamonds can be found in so many different shades, it can often be hard to interpret the naming of the diamonds color. You can quite regularly see a cross referencing of color such as a "greenish blue". Each diamond color name will have a primary color attached. In our example it would be blue. If another color is mentioned with an 'ish', that would be the secondary color. If you come upon a diamond labeled "brown red", then the diamond will have equal amounts of both colors seen through the stone.
